Sophie Book Reviews branched off from an older, recently closed site and now focuses on books in English and Danish. This site is for authors, writers, publishers, agents, and other book lovers.
Reviews are very important to the authors. We therefore ask our readers to please share the site's reviews on social media. A review helps authors, novice and veterans, create awareness of their hard work as they market their books. This is also the reason SBR will share links to where the books can be purchased.
In addition, we offer authors to share news about their books here. Authors can use our Contact Form to email us information about book signings, new releases, and other success stories. We share the news on our blog so it will reach even more readers. We share pictures of success stories provided by the authors and their agents as well.
Who Owns Sophie Book Review?
The owner of SBR, Karina Schmitt, has a B.A. in Spanish and Spanish American Studies with a minor in English. She is currently writing her Master Thesis on Cuban American political relations.
In 2015, she published An Analysis of "Blood In Blood Out", her Bachelor-degree thesis, on personal identity construction in gangs.
In 2017, she co-wrote, edited, and formatted actor Damian Chapa's autobiography, which he published in the same year. In his book, Chapa reveals the truths and secrets of his childhood upbringing and adolescent years growing up in a dysfunctional family. The book is written in Chapa's voice as though the reader was sitting right next to him listening to his tale.
In 2018, Karina Schmitt re-edited and formatted Greg Alvarez' memoirs (2nd edition), City Boy, after its first edition.
She is currently putting the final touches on her first book in Danish; the memoirs of a Danish World War II Veteran (1919-2018). Da tyskerne kom (in English: When the Germans Came) is the veteran's story of how he experienced WWII as a soldier in the Danish military and as a civilian during the five years from 1940-45 when Denmark was occupied by Nazi-Germany.
Other Services
In addition to book reviews, SBR's services include
- Proof reading and editing of book manuscripts
- Assistance with and feedback on manuscripts
- Formatting for eBook and paperbacks for self-publishing authors
Danish book reviews will have an English version as well as some were originally published in English or Spanish. Each review will have a link to where the book can be purchased.
Who Is Sophie?
The idea for Sophie Book Review originally came as a family idea in commemoration of our family dog - a cute, little mini-daschund we had to say goodbye to in 2015. The idea came as Karina Schmitt was about to publish her Bachelor thesis and the topic of book reviews came up. It was the owner's children who chose the name with the idea to write a book about their puppy and all the fun they had with her. The book is still in working progress as the ideas are coming from the children. SBR looks forward to announcing its release some day.
